YouTube Privacy Notice

Effective for optional YouTube features: September 27, 2026

This notice supplements our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Terms of Service.

Your choice

YouTube search and playback are optional. No YouTube player loads merely because you open Learn. You choose Search YouTube to see results and thumbnails. Choosing Watch here or a video result loads its player after an availability check, with the video notice available. You can close or unload a player at any time. Choosing not to use YouTube does not stop you from using the app’s text guidance or practice tools.

Search

When you search, our server sends only the search words shown in the form to YouTube Data API Services. It does not append your profile, private coaching answers, practice history or account identifier. Do not put private information into a search. We temporarily cache public search results in server memory for up to one hour. Cached keys are hashes of the search words. Results are not saved to your practitioner profile or used to rate your ability.

Result thumbnails load directly from YouTube’s image service after you search. Google receives your device and connection information, including your IP address and browser information, when those images load.

Playback

Before embedding, our server checks the selected video’s public status through YouTube; this result may be cached for up to five minutes. If the video is marked Made for Kids, restricted, or cannot be checked, we offer a link to YouTube instead. A successful check does not guarantee playback in every region or browser.

When you load a player, your browser connects directly to Google. Google receives device and connection data, including your IP address, browser information and the app’s origin. YouTube may collect playback interactions, access or store information on your device, use cookies or similar technology, and serve advertising. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player with no autoplay; this does not mean that no data is collected. We do not download or rehost videos, and we do not record viewing history or turn watching into practice credit.

Provider terms and your control

By choosing these features, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and this notice. Google processes information under the Google Privacy Policy. Closing or unloading a player stops that embed; it does not erase information already held by Google. You can manage browser site data and Google privacy controls separately. External YouTube links open under YouTube’s own policies.

No YouTube account authorization is requested or stored by this feature. We retain the app’s existing account security and rate-limit records to prevent abuse; these contain account-scoped counters, not search text or video viewing history. Public cache entries expire without a background job and are removed when the service is next used or restarts.

For questions or a request relating to app-held data, contact support@theartofpractice.com. For information held by Google, use the controls described in Google’s privacy policy.
